Currently there are two immigration programs for people planning to move to Canada as Caregivers:
Caring for Children Program:
Foreign nationals looking to immigrate to Canada on the basis of Caring for Children Program must meet the given requirements:
- A job offer in Canada when applying for work permit.
- Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) level 5.
- One year of post-secondary education in Canada or a foreign equivalent.
Caring for People with High Medical Needs Program
Foreign nationals looking to immigrate to Canada on the basis of Caring People with High Medical Needs Program must meet the given requirements:
- You should have full-work experience for a minimum of 24 months within the past four years, or 48 months in Canada as:
- Registered (psychiatric) nurse or licensed practical nurse
- Nurse aides, orderlies and patient service associates
- Home support workers and related occupations
- If you have valid work experience in Canada, you must have a license to practice in Canada as a registered (psychiatric) nurse or a licensed practical nurse.
- One year of post-secondary education in Canada or a foreign equivalent.
- CLB level 7 (NOC 3012) or CLB 5 (NOC 3233, 3413 or 4412)
